How does it work? What is it intended to do?

Purpose: Restorative justice is used as an alternative to resolving conflict or violations in schools and in the larger community. It is also used as a framework for discussing community issues and how to make change in the larger community. It can also be used to maintain peaceful conduct and order in the school.

Goal: Restorative justice is an attempt to resolve conflict within the community rather than involving external authorities. Within the school context, it is intended to address the root of the issue by giving all parties a fair chance to express their perspectives, and holding persons accountable for their actions.

This is a logic model of how restorative justice works at IJLA.

A logic model explains what goes into restorative justice, what the different activities are, and what the intended outcomes of restorative justice are.
