The Restorative Justice Project Advisory Committee

The Restorative Justice Project Advisory Committee (RJ PAC) was formed in January of 2014. Lynn Liao, a DePaul student, approached Instituto of Justice and Leadership Academy (IJLA) asking if they were interested in partnering on a research project. The project evolved out of Lynn's interest in restorative justice in schools and the school's interest in documenting their restorative justice practices.

The group has always been made up of school staff and students. The project spanned almost 1.5 years (January 2014 - June 2015). Students have stayed for on the RJ PAC for a couple of weeks to the 1.5 two years. Staff have also stayed for a few weeks to the whole 1.5 years.

Throughout the project, we have had a number of students and staff contribute their time including: Gema Gaete, Kasia Sanchez, Stacey Krueger, Sixto Torres, Salvador Guzman, Yesenia Pupo, Daniel Barrios, Richard Padilla, Esme Calderon, Sergio Jacquez, Kristina Jensen, Bertha Ramirez, Angie Ramos, Gerardo Posados, Liliana Ramirez

The first year of the project was primarily dedicated to:

  • developing research questions

The second year of the project was focused on:

  • refining the research questions

  • choosing a method of data collection

  • developing a focus group protocol and short survey

  • facilitating focus groups

  • analyzing data

  • developing a logic model

  • designing this website to present the findings
