What is a Peace Circle?
A Peace Circle:

is a respectful space where you talk about a misunderstanding or a conflict

involves the people that were in the conflict and/or witnesses

has a third party facilitator or peacekeeper whose role is to:

keep everyone calm

guide the discussion
-
and ensure that the acuerdos is being followed

*a facilitator/peacekeeper is not always necessary

takes place with people sitting in the shape of a circle
Goals of a Peace Circle
1. To resolve conflicts or misunderstandings
2. To come up with different ways of solving a problem
3. To be able to demand accountability
4. To understand another person's point of view
Materials in a Circle
(not all of these are used all the time)

Discipline for Freedom form is used for reflection.

Candles are used for setting a calm atmosphere.

A talking piece is used to facilitate conversation so people don't talk over each other.

Cards with quotes are used to start the conversation.
-
Sage is burned to calm people down with the smell.
-
A centerpiece is created, comprising of different objects, to represent the topic of the piece circle.
